Established local company is seeking a bookkeeper for a position in Troy, NY. This is an excellent opportunity for an organized, energetic, positive person looking to join a stable family business with a long history of success.  Long-term employment for this individual is our goal.

 

Skills: Accounting / Book keeping experience a must, experience with Timberline a plus. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office programs. General knowledge and the ability to use various office equipment. Ability to interact with employees and customers. Positive attitude and the ability to work with others a must. Independent worker and problem solver.  Handling and directing phone calls correctly and promptly will also be a necessary skill.

 

Responsibilities: A/P, A/R, Billing, Payroll, G/L and other duties as required.

Required Experience:  5-10 years in office setting.  Management/supervisory experience a plus.

Job Type: Full Time, Monday through Friday

Job Description Breakdown: 
 (Note: Training will be provided and duties shared with another front office person)

1-Billing/A/R (50%)
Create new customers as required
Input new jobs in system
Run weekly billing reports
Create invoices and submit
Post invoices to A/R
Receive and post checks and other receipts to system

2-Payroll (50%) (Every other week)
Input daily time cards to P/R system
Calculate payroll
Print checks and distribute
Post payroll to G/L

3- A/P (50%)
Input invoices daily
Pay invoices weekly

4- Telephones
Answer incoming calls as needed and handle as needed

5- Bank Reconciliation

Input bank statements to system and reconcile account(s)

6- General Ledger

Work within the General Ledger to maintain balances as needed.

7- Greet Visitors as needed

8- Sales Tax
Prepare and submits monthly sales tax

9- General Office duties as required

Typing
Support projects as needed

  • SAFETY MANAGER- Capital Region Office
    This position is responsible for maintaining all areas of safety for the Capital Region Office  including working with the Corporate Safety Director as well as with the local Operations Manager.

    Duties includes the following:
      
    Compliance with OSHA, State & Federal Regulations, Company policies as well as jobsite compliance (Owners, GC's and CM's)
       Site inspections including various jobsites and fabrication shop
       Site Specific Safety Plans & Risk Assessments
       Accident Investigations
       New Hire Orientation
       Employee Safety Training
       Recordkeeping
       Safety/PPE Equipment Inspection & Inventory
       Project Safety Meetings
       Tool Box Safety Talks, Site Inspection and Audits for compliance
       Mentoring and Coaching to maintain a positive safety culture

    Working with Company Safety Team on the following:
     
      Safety Committee Meetings - Reviewing all incidents, safety initatives, recognitions and continued safety improvements.
       Tool Box Talks - Development, Audits & Compliance
       Spring/Fall Safety Meetings and Safety Stand Downs
       Policy Development
       Training Development
       Post Accident Reveiw
       Safety Initiatives

    Position Requirements
    Travel to jobsites and corporate office. Travel may include occasional overnight stays. Overtime or extended work hours may be required.

    Essential Skills
       Excellent oral and written communication skills
       Demonstrated analytical skills
       Strong interpersonal skills
       Proficiency in PC applicaitons such as Outlook, Excel, Work and various Data based programs
       Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise sound judgement

    Minimum Qualifications
       OSHA 30 or above, and or other Safety Credentials
       Construction or other Safety Experience
       Valid Driver's License
       Must pass drug test

    Bonus Qualifications
       Construction related field experience of large scale construction projects, or relevant experience
       OSHA 500
       First Aid & CPR certified

DRIVER:  Local deliveries to both commerical and residential jobsites with flatbed truck & forklift, dump truck.  CDL-B required.  Building materials/forklift experience a plus.

YARD PERSONNEL/FORKLIFT:  Arrange orders for delivery and/or customer pick-up.  Loading & unloading delivery trucks, contractor and retail customers.  Maintain and organize yard.  Forklift experience required.
